Coriander Essential Oil {Coriandrum sativum}

Method of Extraction: Steam distilled from the seeds. 

Coriander is the seed of the cilantro plant. Both the plant and seeds are commonly used to add flavor in cooking and to aid in digestion.

AROMA 

Sweet, warming, herbaceous, fruity and woody top-middle note. 

BLENDS WELL WITH 

Bergamot, black pepper, cardamom, cinnamon, clary sage, clove, cypress, frankincense, geranium, ginger, grapefruit, lemon, neroli, orange, ravensara, rosemary, sandalwood, vetiver, ylang ylang.

 

REPORTED THERAPEUTIC PROPERTIES

Warming, stimulating, reduces anxiety and emotional irritation.  Appetite stimulant,  promotes digestive ease, encourages blood-sugar balance. Enhances memory and cognition. Mildly reduces skin inflammation, redness and rash following sun exposure. Antibacterial (e-coli), antifungal (Candida spp.). Helps relieve painful menstruation. Circulatory stimulant, relieves headache (migraine).  

PRECAUTIONS: 

SPECIFIC 

  • May interact with diabetic mediations. Studies suggest coriander significantly lowers glucose in animals, which may increase the action of diabetic medications.
  • May interact with antibiotics and possibly enhance their effects. 

GENERAL 

As with all essential oils, never use them undiluted, in eyes or mucus membranes. Do not take internally unless working with a qualified and expert practitioner. Keep away from children. If applying an essential oil to your skin always perform a small patch test to an insensitive part of the body (after you have properly diluted the oil in an appropriate carrier oil).
