Often called the "elixir of life", Melissa, also known as Lemon Balm, is a very precious essential oil, prized for its powerful antidepressant and effects. The plant yields less than 1/10 of 1% of essential oil, causing it to be very expensive to produce and commonly adulterated.

The light yellow, thin oil has an intense fresh, sweet, lemony aroma. It is considered a middle note in aromatherapy blends.

Atlas cedarwood, citrus oils, chamomile, frankincense, geranium, lavender, neroli, rose, ylang ylang.

Antiseptic, antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal, antispasmodic, strengthens the heart, expels excess gas, balances hormones, helps lower high blood pressure, reduces the appearance of blemishes, reduces fever, aids digestion, regulates menstruation, nervine (soothes and calms nerves), relieves skin conditions, regulates breathing, encourages restful sleep.

A powerful antidepressant, reduces anxiety, comforts during grief, sedating yet strengthening and revitalizing, calms hysteria, combats anger and rage, relieves nightmares and encourages restful sleep.

Avoid during pregnancy due to high citral content. Use cautiously with diabetic medications (may decrease blood sugar levels).

As with all essential oils, never use them undiluted, in eyes or mucus membranes. Do not take internally unless working with a qualified and expert practitioner. Keep away from children. If applying an essential oil to your skin always perform a small patch test to an insensitive part of the body (after you have properly diluted the oil in an appropriate carrier oil).
