rosewood

{Aniba rosaeodora}

General: A medium-sized evergreen tree native to the Amazon Basin, Rosewood is prized for its floral, spicy aroma. In the 1980's, facing concerns about overharvesting, the Brazilian governement created regulations that mandate replanting after harvest and encourage using branches instead of trunks to make woodchips. Despite these efforts, rosewood remains on the CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) Appendix II list.

Skin Benefits: Made of 90% linalool, rosewood essential oil has tissue regenerating properties that help prevent premature aging and wrinkles. Aromatherapists use it to treat depression and stimulate libido function. Like many essential oils, it is antibacterial and antifungal. Its enlightening, rosey aroma completes our Neem & Sandalwood Purifying Mask, Rose & Cardamom Gentle Foaming Cleanser, and Wildwood Vegan Bar Soap.
