safflower

{Carthamus tinctorius}

General: One of humanities oldest crops, archaeologists have found safflower garlands in the pharaoh Tutankhamen's tomb. The red, orange, yellow flowers were widely used in ancient Egyptian dyes. With a deep taproot, safflowers are native to arid soils with seasonal rain.

Skin Benefits: Contains an exceptionally high amount of oleic acids, making it very easy for our skin to absorb, deeply moisturizing and nourishing. Our organic, Oregon safflower oil is the primary base of our Apricot Chamomile Cleansing Oil Makeup Remover and Volcano Pumice Foot Scrub.
