willow bark

{Salix alba}

General: Willow roots help hold riverbanks together. Willows shoots have a remarkable germination rate, easily taking root after being passed downstream. Native Americans relied on willow bark for many medicinal needs. It is a temporary pain-reliever. Its high salicylic acid content inspired Aspirin and then the whole gamut of non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

Skin Benefits: A natural source of salicylic acid and anti-inflammatory constituents with effects similar to aspirin. Sloughs off dead skin cells to open pores and reduce pimples and acne. Helps decrease redness and puffiness around blemishes. See our Willow Bark & Licorice Pore Refining Serum.
