yerba mate

{Ilex paraguariensis}

General: A evergreen shrub or tree in the holly family, yerba mate trees can grow up to 50 feet tall. The Guaraní people, native to the area between the Uruguay and lower Paraguay rivers, have used the leaves for centuries to stimulate the mind and nervous system, reduce fatigue, enhance immunity, slow aging and control the appetite.

Skin Benefits: Contains three times the antioxidant value than the famed green tea. Readily absorbs damaging free radicals, saving cells from structural damage (from sun, aging). Yerba mate contains almost all the vitamins needed to sustain lifevitamins A, C, E, B1, B2, and B complex, carotene, riboflavin, pantothenic acid, biotin and vitamin C complex—leaving skin soft and nourished. It also possesses 15 different amino acids, plus significant amounts of magnesium, calcium, iron, sodium, potassium, manganese, silicon, phosphates, zinc, niacin, sulfur, and chlorophyll, choline, and inositol. Essential to our Ultralight Moisturizer, Sunburn Smoothie, Melissa & Honey Night Cream, and Willow Bark Pore Refining Serum
