I'm on a big Zero Waste kick this year. The amount of plastic in the world is horrifying and I've decided to do everything I can to minimize my own use of it. An easy way to get started is to replace everyday household cleaning products as they run out. We make our own cleaning products for the aos Skincare lab, store and our Wellness Spa because we need products that are non-toxic and that really work. As a society, we tend to believe that "natural" or "homemade" cleaning products don't have the same cleaning power as commercial ones, but I've found the opposite to be true!
Shine On is my absolute favorite essential oil blend for cleaning. It smells bright, cheery and fresh. The citrus oils are powerful antibacterials, so I know my house is getting really clean. Not only does adding essential oils to DIY cleaning mixes totally boost cleaning power, but it will make your home smell amazing– no artificial fragrances required. I get asked all the time which DIY cleaners are my favorite, so I finally decided to put them all in one place for you.
Using Glass Bottles & Jars: It’s a widely known fact that essential oils can degrade plastic. For this reason, it is generally recommended to only store products containing essential oils in glass. Plastic is bad for us and for our world. The less we use, the better!
Give these recipes a try and let me know how they work for you. I'd love to hear your own tips and tricks for homemade cleaning products!
