At Angelina Organic Skincare, one of our guiding mantras is "Full Circle Beauty". This means that as we craft each of your skin care products, we are dedicated to creating beauty in every step of the process, from plant to skin. One of the most challenging areas is in packaging. Every product must be labeled and that label is something we give a lot of consideration to.
One of the most exciting developments in the world of product labels is BioStone, a tree-free label made primarily of mineral powder from scrap and recycled marble and limestone. You read that correctly- these labels are made of rocks. And it isn't just the label material that's green; BioStone and its adhesive are both fully compostable and recyclable. Also, it requires less energy to manufacture and releases one-half as much carbon as conventional pulp paper production.
BioStone looks like paper but acts like plastic, with the ability to withstand tearing, water, oils and even essential oils. Additionally, it requires about 20% less ink compared to regular paper because the material doesn't have absorbing pulp fibers. We've been using BioStone on our Skin Doctor and Sore Muscle Rub tins for years and plan to replace the recycled paper labels on many of our other products in the next couple of years.
