    Tips for Preventing Sun Spots

    Tips for Preventing Sun Spots

I want to introduce you to my long-time friend and trusted esthetician, Traci Olson. Traci owns and operates Love Your Skin in Bend, Oregon and has been practicing esthetics since 2004. We met more than a decade ago when Traci gave me the best facial of my life and have been close friends ever since. I definitely give Traci credit for keeping my skin healthy and clear and she's been a long-time consultant for aos. She's been using our products in her facials for years and has come on board to share her valuable skincare advice!

    Tips for Preventing Sun Spots:

    Tip #1: Sunscreen!

Apply broad-spectrum sunscreen: Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 or higher every day, even on cloudy days. Apply it generously to all exposed areas of your skin, including your face, neck, chest, the backs of your hands, and any other areas that may be exposed to the sun. Reapply every two hours or more frequently if you are sweating or swimming. I use and recommend the Broad Spectrum Sunshade Lotion SPF 30.

    Tip #2: Avoid Tanning Beds

Tanning beds emit harmful UV radiation that can increase the risk of sunspots and other skin issues. Avoid using tanning beds altogether to protect your skin from unnecessary damage. If you want to look "tanned" for an event, consider using a natural tanning lotion or get an organic spray tan.

    Tip #3: Use Antioxidants

Incorporate skincare products that contain antioxidants into your routine. Antioxidants, such as vitamin C, help neutralize free radicals caused by UV radiation and reduce the potential for sunspots. I use and recommend Angelina's Ultra-C Serum.

    Tip #4: Exfoliate Regularly

Include gentle exfoliation in your skincare routine to remove dead skin cells and promote skin renewal. This can help fade existing sunspots and prevent the accumulation of pigment in the future. Choose a gentle exfoliant suitable for your skin type and use it 1-2 times a week. I recommend using the Cucumber Face Polish

    Tip #5: Hydrate and Moisturize

Keep your skin hydrated and moisturized to maintain its health and resilience. Dry or dehydrated skin can be more susceptible to sun damage, including the formation of sunspots. Use a moisturizer suitable for your skin type daily. I love the Goji Mate Ultralight Moisturizer with SPF 15.

Tip #6: Avoid Excessive Sun Exposure

Limit your time in direct sunlight, especially without adequate protection. Prolonged or frequent exposure to the sun can increase the risk of sunspots and other forms of skin damage. Wearing protective clothing- large brimmed hats, long sleeves, sun gloves and longer pants and skirts will protect your delicate skin while you're outside playing in the sun.
